CH1-005 - Cairndow Hotel (1867-1965)

William Jones was Innkeeper from 1867 – 1909

Tommy Jones took over the running of the Hotel in 1909 – 1945

Mrs. Jones and her daughter Nancy continued to run the hotel until 1954

William Jones married Emily Phillis Bellamy in Cairndow Hotel on 4th December, 1867. All their children were born in Kilmorich. Sadly Emily died in 1883 following the birth of their ninth child.

William Jones is said to be the person who changed the spelling of Cairndhu to Cairndow.

William’s son Tommy married Agnes McGregor Paul in 1909 and they then ran the hotel.
