The Here We Are Story - past, present and future

CSC-BC-001 - Badminton in Cairndow (1960-1969)

Some memories of playing badminton in Cairndow by Donald Muir.

I used to play badminton for Cairndow – along with both my mum and my dad (Alice and Donald)- and remember playing many matches against other teams in the area. Vivid memory of my dad and I playing men’s doubles in Inveraray against Alec Blyth (he was a very talented all-round sportsman) and another guy back in the 1960s. John McDonald was probably our most talented player at the time,  I am still playing today 2022.

My badminton racket and my mum’s (Alice Muir) from the days when we used to play for Cairndow Racket Club – my mum even has it written on her racket press (unlikely such a device exists these days)! Good news is that, until the recent lockdown, I still use my Dunlop racket to play my 16 year-old lad at our local leisure centre most Saturday’s.
