  1. I was delighted to find this website as my father’s relations feature here. The Archie MacIntyre who wrote this poem was my great great grandfather and I remember visiting his son, my great uncle Sandy at Stronmagachan. He must have been one of the last people to have had Argyllshire Gaelic as their first language. My grandfather was Archibald, Sandy’s brother. He shepherded on Drimlee, where my father was born, then moved to Minard, and was latterly tenant farmer in Inverae, where he died in 1966, not 1963 as the article claims.
Returning to Alexander, firstly, we have his long service certificate for 40 year’s work at Ardkinglas and secondly, my father always said we had a connection to Duncan Ban MacIntyre but we had never heard of it from another source until I found your website. My father and his great uncle Archie Sinclair are also in the photo of Cairndow dog trials.

    1. Hi Jan,
Very sorry for not replying long before now! We diverted onto Care in our community and our heritage projects got neglected.
Thank you for the information. I wonder if you could put the correct information into an email and I could add it to the website? Also if you could tell me which sheepdog trials your father and his great uncle are in and I can add their names to the photograph.
      Thank you
      Dot
